About Us

What are we?

An association consisting of staff representatives of International Organisations (hereafter ‘IOs’) in the Netherlands.

Who are we?

We are elected representatives from the Staff Associations of Netherlands-based IOs.

We represent the interests of over 10,000 staff and their families.

We represent both expatriated and Dutch national staff.

What are our objectives?

To act as a centralised collection and distribution point for information on ongoing areas of concern to IO staff members and their families and dependents living in The Netherlands, especially in the area of working and living conditions.

To express the needs and raise the concerns of IO staff members before the relevant ministries of the Dutch government or local authorities (hereafter ‘Dutch ministries’). Our primary areas of interest include:

Residence/registration (ID) | Education for family and dependents of IO staff members | Medical and Social Security | Working rights for spouses of IO staff members | Taxation issues | Voting rights | Pensions and  pensioners/’survivors’ | Children (birth registration, citizenship rights etc.) | Motor vehicles

Similarly to express the needs and raise the concerns of IO staff members before the management of our organisations.

To facilitate information exchange between the various IOs to support the above, but also on social and cultural matters.

To act as a resource for the Dutch government in identifying issues of concern to IO staff members and to provide an entry point for the Dutch government to staff members of IOs.

To promote the idea of The Netherlands as an agreeable location for international organisations and their staff to settle.

What means shall we use to achieve our objectives?

Assemble information about the status, treaties and privileges and seat agreements that affect the lives of the staff members of IOs in The Netherlands.

To identify items of common concern as well as items that affect particular classes of IOs.

To use this information as a means to identify what needs to be done and to provide a forum in which discussion and action can be taken.

To identify relevant entities of the Dutch authorities and to signal to them our readiness to establish and maintain contact and discuss issues as they arise.
